Family days out just got even wilder as Howletts, the award-winning wild animal park in Kent, has launched a one of a kind prehistoric creatures exhibit, ‘Animals of the Ice Age’.  Stop and stare at the spectacular sabre-toothed cats, marvel at the mighty mammoth and be amazed by the sheer size of the giant sloth!

Life size anatomically correct beasts are sure to transport all visitors back to a forgotten time. This incredible permanent outdoor exhibition is included in the day visit ticket price and this May half-term you can join the free Animals of the Ice Age guided tours.

Animals of the Ice Age is a fantastic new experience for all the family where real-life size prehistoric creatures are set in the woodland walk at Howletts Wild Animal Park.  These magnificent new arrivals have changed the face of the park and have enabled visitors to discover a world lost in time.

Visitors to the Animals of the Ice Age will be able to walk amongst these fantastic creatures and learn incredible facts posted on informative signage, which will tell the story of the animal kingdom as it was, over 2.6 million years ago. Expect to be taken by surprise as you keep discovering these amazing beasts along the trail keeping kids and parents on their toes and on the lookout.

Special events in May at Howletts:

May Bank Holiday Weekend: 5th – 7th May

Visit Howletts as they go potty for primates and wild for macaques the May Bank Holiday! Visit also the newly opened Animals of the Ice Age exhibit which is included in your day ticket.

Take part in a prize draw to win a macaque encounter, join Howletts team to help make some fun enrichment items, to keep the mischievous macaques amused, make your own macaque mask or even have your face painted to look just like one!

Every day throughout the Bank Holiday Weekend, you can join Howletts Education team for a popular Twilight Tour, where you can explore areas of the park with a knowledgeable guide after everyone else has gone home. Plus, take part in their Primate Tour and you’ll step into the world of their primates as you explore our large open top gelada and colobus habitat.

Tours are priced at £15.00 per adult and £10.00 per child with a £2.00 discount for Annual Park Members (children must be aged over 7 years old to take part in the Primate Tour)

 

May Half Term: 26th May-3rd June

Enjoy amazing days out this May Half Term in Howletts, journey through a land, once frozen in time, as you join free guided tours every day to discover the Animals of the Ice Age at Howletts! Marvel at the mighty mammoth, gape at the giant sloth and stare at the sabre toothed smilodons, as you journey through our wooded walkways, spotting life sized creatures from the past.

Howletts is home to over 400 animals, including Kent’s only giant anteaters, the largest herd of African elephants in the UK and more gorillas, tigers, leopards and monkeys than any animal park in the county. As a conservation charity, all visits help to protect wildlife here in the UK, which then enables them to send animals back to the wild in conjunction with The Aspinall Foundation.  It’s a fun packed, wild day out and approximately 90 minutes from London Victoria.
