Mumfidential Handpicked Christmas Gift Guide 2016

Mumfidential Handpicked Christmas Gift Guide
Mumfidential Handpicked Christmas Gift Guide

It’s back! Following last year’s hugely successful Mumfidential Handpicked Christmas Gift Guide we’ve created an even better one, with more original and inspiring Christmas present ideas and enticing discounts for every member of the family.

We’ve only included things we think are brilliant – and would like to receive ourselves (or already own!).

Hopefully there’s something for everyone but let us know if we’ve missed someone…

For stylish school kids: A Froggy lunch box

This froggy lunch box from ethical children’s retailer SKiN&BLiSS is just so much cooler than anything we’ve seen on the high street (probably because it is made by Beatrix, a New York-based design company).

froggy lunchbox

It’s both whimsy and stylish and it works – the bag is made from durable, heavy-duty nylon which can be wiped clean or shoved in the washing machine and it’s insulated to ensure wraps, sandwiches and smoothies stay cool til lunch.

There’s a name tag and a zipped pocket and it’s tested PVC Free, phthalate free, and lead free. Phew.

Normally £29, SKiN&BLiSS are offering our readers 10% off any order using the code ‘MUM10‘. See the whole range of kid accessories at, a brand new ethical home for kids clothing brands.

For puddle jumpers: A Scamp Suit

Every little adventurer needs a Muddy Puddle’s Scamp Suit. Ours lives in the back of the car, ready for that trip to the beach or common. Scampsuits are fully waterproof and have a removable fleece, ensuring they can be used for puddle jumping and mud bathing all year round.

This lovely raindrop print suit usually costs £59, and there’s also a Scamp Jacket for £40 but our readers can enjoy a 10% discount on both items (code ‘XMSC10’) and free delivery until the 21st December. Amazing.

You can browse the scampsuit and other Muddy Puddles waterproof weather gear at – we’re big fans of the new skiwear collection.

For budding actors: My First Puppets

Last Christmas my brother gave my boys puppets – a crocodile and a horse – and they were just the best presents. Every evening there would be a ridiculous show where one of the animals (usually the horse) would get eaten.

We cried with laughter and the boys got so excited they couldn’t sleep but a year on they are still demanding puppet shows.

my-first-puppets makes puppets in every shape and size, from finger puppets to full-body puppets, dinosaurs, parrots and monkeys, and they’re all beautiful made.

Until 1 January Mumfidential readers are offered 10% off the My First Puppets collection (usually £4.99). Just enter the code MYFIRST10 when ordered on

For the new arrival: A block-print blanket

Every baby needs a super soft multi-purpose blanket and Willa and the Bear make some of the best. We adore this company – every item is ethically sourced and block printed by hand on the softest cotton and muslin.

This cosy moon and stars muslin blanket is trimmed in a choice of fabulous neons and pastels and is perfect to use as a pram or travelling blanket, breastfeeding cover, buggy shade or flat sheet on cold, wintery nights.

As well as offering 20% off all blankets and quilts on their website, Willa and the Bear is also including a complimentary muslin comforter with every purchase our readers make.
Simply use the code ‘MUMFIDENTIAL16’ before the 23rd December ‘16 to bagsy yours.

Or…..A magnetic sleep suit

Magnet Mouse has created a masterpiece for new mums: babygros that fasten by magnets. Yes magnets – why hasn’t anyone thought of this before?! No more fiddly poppers, no more impossible buttons or snagging zips. Hooray.

The award winning collection, which includes vests and sleepsuits, is made of organic cotton and exquisitely styled – think collars and puffy sleeves. And they all just pull open and snap shut, ensuring you no longer have endless tinkering with a wriggling baby.

Magnet Mouse is offering our readers a generous 25% off – yes you read that right – either their Pink Mice Set (2 suits of any size) or Feather Set (one newborn sleep suit and one grey suit, in either 3-6m or 6-9m). Both are normally £39.90 when bought separately.

They’ll arrive gift wrapped in a muslin bag with satin ties. Just use the code MUMFID16 at

Or something from the Joolz Essentials range…

Everything about Joolz nursery range is stylish, soft and practical – plus it is designed to be environmentally friendly.

Anything from the collection will go down hugely well with a new mum… we love the honeycomb blankets and the enormous organic cotton swaddlesscreen-shot-2016-11-21-at-21-03-41screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-21-13-16

There’s also a nest for babies 0 to 6 months and can be used in pram, cot and car seat. screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-21-10-32

So when you get back from a Christmas evening out you can lift him or her straight from the car seat into the cot with the least amount of disturbance.

For book worms: A personalised Zebra Book

There are personalised children’s books and then there are Zebra Books, which take the whole genre to a new level of creativity, beauty and brilliance. We are already the proud owner of two and can’t wait to build our collection.

In this one, European Tour, your little person becomes the heroine or hero of a rollercoaster adventure across Europe, searching for the 26 letters of the alphabet.

Zebra books

It’s an impressive book, with their name on the cover, wonderful illustrations and a story that cleverly avoids any kind of gender stereotyping.

This wonderful Christmas gift is available to our readers with a 10% discount via the Zebra Books website using the code ‘mumconf’ at checkout. It’s available in hardcover (£42) and soft cover (£32). The offer is valid until the 2nd January.

For little urchins: Dotty Dungarees

There’s nothing more scrumptious-looking than a child in dungarees and Dotty Dungarees is the only place you should buy them.

The company was founded by Alice Goldsmith and Georgie Parr to do one thing – make practical, soft, and extremely stylish dungarees for children (aged 0 to 5) who are always looking for their next adventure.

They’ve scoured the world for the softest fabrics in the brightest colours and each pair is designed to fit both boys and girls from crawling to climbing trees. What could be better?

These spotty dungarees are a real favourite of ours but you can take your pick…there’s 20% off the entire range for Mumfidential readers.

For independent thinkers: Huxter design-your-own joggers

The ordering process is simple: you choose what item you would like (there are bibs, rompers, hoodies, joggers etc) and in which fabric, and then the Huxter team creates it for you.

Huxter fabrics are bright and varied with something for everyone, even toddlers with extremely specific tastes.

Huxter Kids

Until Christmas, Huxter Kids is offering Mumfidential readers 10% off. To claim the offer, enter the code MUMFIDENTIAL at checkout. You’ll have to order by 10th December to guarantee Christmas delivery.

For the family: A hamper of British delicacies

Artisan Provender is a great company to know about. We’ve been test driving hamper companies for the past few Christmases and Artisan Provender’s beautiful baskets are the absolute best.

Our favourite of all is the brunch hamper (£64.90 + £9.50 postage) … surely nothing kicks off a festive morning better than a luxurious brunch?

Included are delicacies from across Britain such as Spoon Pecan and Cinnamon Granola, Foreman’s Original London Cure Smoked Salmon and Yearlstone Vintage Brut Sparkling Wine.

Artisan Provender hampers are delivered in a beautiful box to anywhere in the UK. They can also be delivered abroad (postage to be agreed prior to shipping).

Until the 16th December our readers can enjoy a 10% discount off the brunch hamper using the code ‘ABFAB1’ on the order form.

For vivid imaginations: A toy or game from Belle and Boo

Belle and Boo’s beautifully crafted collection of exquisite story books, toys, art prints, homewares and decorations provide endless inspiration for Christmas gifts.

Each product, whether a greetings card, a toy or wall stickers, feature Mandy Sutcliffe’s magical illustrations, and are designed to inspire a child’s imagination, transporting them into an exciting wonderland.

Lovingly made, the enchanting range of gifts and toys is perfect for babies to eight year olds. Whilst offering adults a unique, affordable and beautiful alternative to mass produced toys and gifts.

We particularly love the new memory game (retailing at £7.50), which is enchantingly illustrated and features Belle and Boo and some of their friends.

There’s 10% off the entire range when you spend more than £25.

Just enter the code ‘Christmas Cheer’ before the 31st December at

For seasoned travellers: On the Big Red Bus

Journeys to the country aren’t the same now we have one of our On the Big Red Bus CDs on repeat.

The CDs take your child on a personal journey to the farm or the seaside, providing hours of entertainment (and peace for parents) on car journeys.

“Is there anyone there called Hector?” asks the narrator, Granny Farmer.

“Yes…” comes a small voice from the back of the car.

And  that’s it… he’s singing along to Wheels on the Bus, Hocky Cokey and Dingle Dangle Scarecrow and joining in the actions (when prompted sternly by Granny F).

They’re designed for children up to five or six, but even a one-year-old will recognise their own name personalised in the story (17 times).

They cost just £10 (plus £1.50 p and p) and can be ordered via the Big Red Bus website.

For night owls: A vintage nightie

We love this whimsical and extremely pretty Gardening Rabbits nightdress by Hollyhock Home. It’s inspired by a vintage design, falling just below the knee and with beautiful cap sleeves and a bow detail on the neckline.

Featuring their signature print, Hollyhock’s nightdresses (£35) range in size from 3-12 years and are printed and manufactured here in Britain using beautiful 100% cotton poplin so they are soft, easy to wash and iron beautifully.

You should also check out the Hollyhock website for beautiful linen bedlinen for children (perfect for children with sensitive skin and allergies), baby sleeping bags, furniture and fabric by the metre.

For you: A show-stopping necklace

Sam Ubhi’s jewellery is truly unmistakable, inspired by her love of vintage pieces, tribal accessories and eco-friendly and fair trade materials. Her individual style offers elegant jewellery with a unique twist.

We particularly love her work with rough diamonds and these beautifully delicate leaf chain and mother of pearl lariat necklaces, which will instantly jazz up any outfit this Christmas.

Normally selling for £144, the necklaces are currently on sale for £98 (a snitch given how much work they involve).

Sam Ubhi is kindly offering Mumfidential readers a further 10% reduction until 24th December. Just quote ‘Sam/mum16’ either in store or by calling 0208 673 4558. Her website is currently experiencing IT issues!

Or… a leather backpack

A KeriKit leather backpack is the ultimate accessory for a new mum. We’ve often said that backpacks are the best mum bag but these ones are spcifically designed to bring order to chaotic lives. Boy do we need this.

It’s no wonder there was a waiting list when they first came out.

KeriKit purses, changing bags and handbags are entirely handcrafted by Kerikit’s arisan team using the highest quality leather and highly skilled workmanship.

The Joy multifunctional backpack features a multitude of internal and external pockets to give you flexibility when planning for days out with the baby. There is even a key pocket, so no more rummaging in the bottom of your bag.

What’s more, each KeriKit bag can be personalised, taking your KeriKit bag from limited edition to totally unique.

This Christmas KeriKit is offering Mumfidential readers 15% off the whole range including sale! Just quote the code MUMFIDENTIAL15 when ordering on (available till 26th December).

Please note, this can’t be used in conjunction with any other offers.

For know-it-all dads: Wordsmithery

The boardgame of the moment. Everyone at Mumfidential HQ is playing Wordsmithery, possibly because it is so easy to learn and gives us a chance to show off our enormous vocabulary (ha ha).

All you have to go is guess the meaning of a word. All 700 are exactly the kind of words you pretend to understand…when you don’t. Words like egregious, phalanx and salubrious. Don’t worry. You get three definitions to choose from so you won’t humiliate yourself too much.

The game was created by Hubert van den Bergh, author of How to Sound Clever, and Will Sorrell, founder of boutique games company, Clarendon Games and is already a Christmas bestseller.

For the in (or out) laws: Horatio’s Garden Gardener’s Hand Cream

Horatio’s Garden is a trailblazing charity which creates beautiful gardens at spinal injuries centres across Britain.

It is incredible what a difference these spaces make to patients who are coming to terms with life changing injuries.

Outside in the garden, they can breathe in the fresh air and get a more inspiring perspective on life, and can spend time with their families in privacy rather than in a stuffy ward.

The Horatio’s Garden Shop is a real find, too, selling classy garden accessories such as twine, plant labels and gardening gloves as well as original things for the home – including some amazing bespoke candles.

Horatio's Garden shop

We love this gardener’s hand cream (£10) but there is present inspiration for everyone on the site

For your little prince or princess: A Rachel Riley knit

Ever since Prince George was snapped rocking a pair of Rachel Riley dungarees while on a Royal Tour of New Zealand in 2014, this classy children’s wear brand has been the label of the moment.

Featuring beautifully made clothing, shoes and accessories for newborns and children up to age 14, the Rachel Riley range is characterised by its colourful designs, beautiful tailoring and forties, fifties and sixties-inspired patterns and prints with hand smocking and embroidery.

There is a broad range and lots to tempt here – including handmade party slippers – but it’s the smocked designs (also beloved by Prince George) that we’ve really fallen for, and these gorgeous wintery knits.

Nostalgic, comfortable and a reminder of one or two of our own favourite childhood jumpers – just perfect for wearing to a Christmas party.

As a special offer to Mumfidential readers, Rachel Riley is offering a 10% discount across the range. Simply quote ‘GIFTGUIDE10’ when ordering on Expires midnight on Christmas Eve.

For the night before Christmas: Their Nibs PJS

… And for the best nanny in the world: Their Nibs printed wash bag

My children are dedicated Their Nibs wearers and they’re in good company as Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, Thandie Newton and Jude Law all shop here too.

The brand is influenced by all things vintage – the prints are just gorgeous – with luxury finishings and unique details. They sell pyjamas but also party dresses, crochet cards and tutus and it’s all very practical, as in easy to wash and very sturdy.

Their Nibs

This Christmas Their Nibs has two amazing offers for Mumfidential readers.

There’s 30% off both their beautiful printed wash bags – perfect present for a teenager or aupair – and their pjs.

The offer runs until 1 January 2017. Just enter ‘MUMS30‘ when ordering on
